Recently I had the pleasure of seeing a patient with retina disorders. One of her main vision goals was to be able to write her poems again. She had been unable to write for over three years. Our patient's first goal addressed the use of special writing pens, which when combined with our bold lined paper allowed this patient to see the lines easier. My patient went home with both these vision enhancing aids. Before she went home she asked me..."What I like to do," and I explained that I love nature.

At my patient's third visit, she brought me in a poem and thanked me for everything that we had achieved on her behalf. She stated being able to write letters to family members again, and write checks in order to pay bills.

I offer this patients' poem below, that she wrote for me:

'Nature'

The world has so much to offer, so much to see, just to enjoy nature with all its beauty. Mountains-trees at times the feeling of a gentle breeze. Sailing on a boat as you hook a worm, or getting together sharing a campfire keeping warm, -sometimes finding shelter from a storm. Sunrises, Sunsets — It's something you never forget. Seasons change, as each are rearranged — Nature is here each and every day, the beauty is here to stay.
